The Chronicles of Narnia

C.S. Lewis first conceived of the Chronicles of Narnia in 1939 and finished writing the last book (but the first chronologically) in 1954. He believed that the series could never be adapted to film because it would turn out "hideous or ridiculous" due to the limitations of live-action film. In 2005, the Imagineers at Disney overcame those limitations with the help of CGI animation. In addition, several attempts have been made to adapt the stories for television.
