IndieWire's 13 Essential Female-Led Westerns (And Then Some)

IndieWire selects 13 essential western movies featuring a female lead character - a rarity in this male driven genre. Then I add a couple more of my own choice for reasons that they should be included. Original 13 listed first, after that are my picks. I decided to add to the list because of the original site's decision to omit True Grit (2010) on the grounds that Hailee Steinfeld does not lead the movie - something that anyone who has actually seen it knows is incorrect and is at least the co-lead if not the outright protagonist. The decision to omit the film makes less sense due to the inclusion of The Homesman, whose (spoiler) female lead dies quite a bit before the film is over.
