The Bibliophile's List of the Great American Novels - Page 3

This list is in response to The Atlantic's recent list of their Great American Novels. While I love any publication focusing on literature and respect their opinions, I certainly have a number of disagreements with their list, and so I've sought to develop my own list. I'll actually be making two lists - one based on their strict rule of all books being published within the last 100 years, and another, namely this one, thinking that's ridiculous (how can you exclude classics like Moby-Dick, Uncle Tom's Cabin or Little Women?) and thus having no time limit on their publication. I have 136 novels in chronological order, just like The Atlantic's list, but the one rule I imposed on myself, which The Atlantic didn't, is to allow an author only one entry on the list. I'm sure many will disagree with some of my choices, but that's the great thing about reading. Enjoy!
