10 So-Called Turkeys That Are Actually Terrific

"They call it schadenfreude. Ever since the escalating budgets and on-set problems of studio movies began to get reported gleefully in newspapers, the public has developed a relish for the prospect of a film's failure....
Most of the films below cost more to make than they should have, it's true. But....[w]orse films have cost more, only to be redeemed at the box-office by less demanding crowds. All of these movies are worth your time, so long as they are first met on the terms intended by their makers and decreed by those genres in which they are cast. Comedy, admittedly, is much the hardest of those in which to salvage a movie's reputation once it's been written off as garbage. Pity the fool reduced to arguing, 'No, but, see, you just didn't appreciate the joke first time, watch it again and you'll laugh like a drain.' [Eh?] But, reader, this fool must."
—Richard T. Kelly, 10 Bad Dates with De Niro (2007)
