A Really Good Read - Page 2

After the last booklist I completed on Facebook a friend commented it was full of books she wouldn't want to read. So I asked my Facebook friends for the works they reread with the greatest pleasure - not when they were trying to impress others, but the ones they went back to when tired, ill or feeling low. Poetry and plays were eligible as well as novels. As you can imagine there was a very wide range of nominations; what follows are the books and authors that received more than one vote. Pride and Prejudice was a clear winner, with Jane Eyre and To Kill a Mockingbird also ahead of the field; Shakespeare was easily the most popular author. I haven't read all of these myself, but I have some good ideas for where to go when I next need a literary pick-me-up.
