Essential Classics Challenge (A Publisher Publishes a List)

This is an enhanced and updated version of a useful reference list published in 2014 by Jennifer Cairns, who might have also been using the challenge as advertising for Peirene Press, an English publishing house. As evidence, this was the only list that J.C. ever published. I have omitted the single icon that promoted Peirene Press.
BTW, I realise that, by publishing this challenge, I am breaking the sacred pact that nothing should ever be repeated on this site.
