Most of the birds that can be seen around human habitation, as well as many of the birds in native forest, in the state of Hawaii are not native to the islands. Competition and predation from these exotic animals is, along with habitat destruction, one of the reasons why Hawaii has more endangered species than anywhere else, and why so many island endemics have since gone extinct. So while the birds on this list may be beautiful, and may even be threatened in their native range, they are a blight on Hawaii's own unique avifauna. Hawaii's introduced birds come from all around the world, but primarily North America and Asia.
