U.S. Route 66 was one of the original and most famous U.S. highways, established on November 11, 1926 and running east-west 2,451 miles through 8 states from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California. The route was decommissioned on June 26, 1985, largely replaced by several Interstate highways, buts its legacy in American culture lives on. This is a list of cities and attractions along or near the original route, from west to east.
