Rhode Island's Special Birds - Page 3

It may be the smallest of the 50 states, but Rhode Island has a number of prime birding locations that can make the place seem much grander than its size might suggest. The waters of Narragansett Bay shelter numerous waterbirds throughout the year, while Block Island offshore is famous for its songbird spectacle during migration periods. Many of the specialty birds of the northeastern United States can be seen here, including the beautiful Harlequin Duck in winter and threatened Piping Plovers nesting on the beaches.
