Superhero Films With Real Stakes

A common criticism of superhero media is that the stakes are too low; not enough characters die for us to feel the weight of the danger they're in, or when they do die they get brought back. While that can be true of many superhero films, some films do buck this trend and dare to kill off main characters. Sometimes the stakes are more emotional, like in the case of Captain America: Civil War, where while we don't get a big death, the team is changed forever and effects ripple into the next films. Sometimes it's about the setup. For example The Incredibles sets up just how easily superheroes can die and how many have before.
