"Sitcoms, by nature, tend to have large casts, and it is the contribution of and interactions between these cast members that makes or breaks the show. As such, many sitcoms don't have a traditional main character, like other TV genres do, and instead, have a core group of characters. Even then, stories need to have a central figure to focus on, and although there is no lack of well-written female characters in comedy shows, there are not many sitcoms that put a female figure in the front and center.
