10 Movies or TV Shows That Diverged Too Far From the Source Material for Fans to Accept

So something, usually a book, you liked gets adapted for film or TV. Great! Or it should be. Here's a list of cases where the adaptation went too far from the source material to be recognised as a faithful work by fans. A few of the TV shows like Game of Thrones started more faithfully, but lost their way (and this was before they caught up and overtook GRRM's writing). Divergences may be in the form of absent key characters (Game of Thrones), different character deaths (The Walking Dead) or a total disregard for the source's story-lines (Legend of the Seeker). Another reason could be unnecessary gender-swapped characters (In the Name of the King - FYI, Statham's character should be female!). And then there's the final season of Bates Motel, which adapts the original Psycho story - and Marion Crane somehow survives her visit to the Bates Motel.
