This is a list of 100 foods and drinks named after people; the inventor of the dish or drink him or herself, or in honour of another person, ranging from royalty, to celebrities, to family and friends. It is hardly an exhaustive list - you almost couldn't walk into Delmonico's Restaurant in New York as a person of note when Charles Ranhofer was chef, without having a dish named after you. In some cases, it is a matter of debate as to who exactly invented the dish, and/or who it was named after. (Some have great stories.) In those cases, alternatives are listed. The exception is the Margarita, which has several versions of its origin story. I have chosen to embrace the one where a bartender made it to impress Rita Hayworth, whose real name was Margarita Cansino. (Wouldn't you make a up a drink to impress Rita Hayworth?) As much as possible, this list was limited to food and drinks that are still relatively common and somewhat readily available. How many have you had?
