Picked from the massive list (which, I noticed afterwards, still has a bunch of stuff missing), the best of last year's travel.
Some are obvious travel highlights (walking the Brooklyn Bridge, or the pink beaches of Crete, and oh, the Fallas of Valencia - I fell in love).
Some were moving due to current events (seeing Notre Dame hurt, but still standing - so true to Paris' motto, fluctuat nec mergitur).
Some seem rather unlikely choices given the competition (I visited the christmas markets in Budapest, with Advent Basilica supposedly being Europe's nicest - yet, this list contains Weimar's Christmas market, because it was so wonderfully uncrowded and it was actually possible to enjoy some mulled wine without having it spilled all over you).
Some seem completely random (Moose) - I saw this giant majestic survivor on the middle of the street in the forest that was once Pripyat's main parade road, against the misty evening light, and I still tear up when I think about it.
