40 Times Marissa Had Divergent Literary Tastes

We all have those moments. You read a book that is wildly popular or critically acclaimed, and you are left thinking, 'What am I missing? Is it me?' Then there are times you love a book and are excited to talk about it with others who surely loved it too, only to discover mostly negative reviews. It's painful to see that low rating for something you feel deserves better!

Here are 40 times when my impression of a book was at odds with its Goodreads rating.
The odd numbers are books I rated lower (sometimes much lower) than most, the even are books I believe are better than their rating suggests.
The Odd Books include a couple I passionately loathe, some that were simply underwhelming, and a few I thought were decent and enjoyable but did not live up to their acclaim. The Even Books I rated four or five stars, while their Goodreads ratings are 3.6 or lower.
Love what you love and be proud. If you don't love what everyone else does, make no apologies, but don't be judgmental.
