66 Years of Reading: Noir and Neo-Noir Fiction - Page 2

I learned to read at age 6. In the subsequent 66 years books and reading have informed every aspect of my life - professional, personal, and recreational - and I now find myself surrounded by books of all kinds and genres. Here are some of the books I consider to be roman noir and neo-noir; while some may at first glance seem to be just detective stories, they are all filled with a darkness and a pessimism that make them something ELSE. I have enjoyed them all immensely , ever since my father gave me a dog-eared paperback of "The Maltese Falcon" and I realized it was more than a mystery.
