99 Books Sarah Needs to Read (After the Dissertation)

Inspired by the Humiliation List trend, I've been thinking about the reading gaps I need to fill in to be a better literature teacher (and scholar). I've studied a lot of medieval and nineteenth-century literature in English, so there aren't quite as many texts in those categories. I also didn't include anything by authors in my dissertation, though I certainly won't have read all of their works by the time I finish it. I've organized it by the types of survey courses I might teach someday, so texts 1-33 are World Literature, 34-66 are British Literature, and 67-99 are American Literature. While making this list, though, I thought of many more books to read...
