Like the title says, this is a list of books that most everyone has probably heard of. Whether it's stood the test of time on its own merits, had an extremely popular screen adaptation, is tied to famous events, become ubiquitous across school reading lists, enjoyed a well-known best-selling fad, etc., these titles should ring familiar and the briefest of synopses should be recognized.
