A List of "Upmarket Fiction" Books

Have you heard of the term "upmarket fiction"? It gained popularity over the past couple decades. Its basic description involves narrative force, strong emotionality, and depth in style & complexity. It straddles the overlapping line between airport fiction and literary fiction, requiring more attention than a simpler story while simultaneously not getting bogged down. That's not official or formal, but I think I got the gist of it. Maybe another way to put it is that upmarket fiction works well for book clubs. In any case, this list features titles that should fit the bill to a large extent. Plenty more, but this gives you an idea, I think. Happy reading!
