A Selection of German Literature in Translation Since 1900

N.B. German *language* lit., so this list includes writers who were/are based in Austria and Switzerland. Mostly focused on literary fiction, but with my soft spot for crime occasionally seeping through.
While certainly not exhaustive, this list will hopefully provide a solid grounding in the classics from well-known authors, as well as a good springboard for Anglophone readers to discover some of the lesser-known gems in this rich German literary tradition, both from emerging contemporary voices and from the increasing number of older works which are finally receiving the attention they deserve from translators.
