Exactly as the title says: these are the songs by artists who replaced themselves at the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, as of September 2015. The Beatles are the only artists to replace themselves at #1 twice in a row (i.e., three consecutive #1's), in 1964, at the height of Beatlemania; Usher came close to repeating this feat in 2004, with "Yeah!" followed by "Burn", whose run at #1 was interrupted partway by Fantasia's "I Believe", before "Burn" was usurped by "Confessions, Pt. 2." Note that the artists in question are not necessarily the lead artist for both songs: Puff Daddy and Ja Rule each appear as a featured artist in one of their #1 songs listed here.
