Best Books About the American Revolution

Since the broadcasts of Ken Burns's magnificent documentary series "The American Revolution " (it's companion book by Geoffrey C. Ward is listed here), there has been a resurgence of interest in that most complex of conflicts. Here are some of the best non-fiction and fiction books about the Revolution. Since I agree with Alan Taylor that the War for Independence was part of a larger continental and global upheaval, I have included books covering the French and Indian War, The Seven Years War, the writing of the constitution, and the development of political parties and factions in America up to 1800.
