Books Fondly Remembered That Made Me a Life-Long Reader - Page 3

I graduated high school in 1969, long before Harry Potter, Lemony Snickett, Judy Blume, and the explosion of YA literature and series found today. Even so, I had teachers and librarians who pointed me in many directions, libraries stocked with books rather than computer stations, inexpensive paperbacks available in drug stores, candy stores, and anywhere else you can think of, and most of all, I had parents who encouraged me to read anything and everything. I always got at least one book as a gift, and my greatest present was when, at age 11, I was allowed to join the Science Fiction Book Club. These are some of the books and magazines (comic books excluded) I remember reading during that amazing time; more than a few have fallen into obscurity , alas. You will notice, I hope, how few of them were from recommended reading lists. Wherever possible, I have tried to use the edition that I actually read way back when. I hope you enjoy this literary "Once Upon a Time."
