Books J. Couldn't Finish

All the books on this list are books that appear on every book list to read if you want to be well read. That's bullshit. that's a pretentious fallacy. i think this books are mostly overrated. I think in some of these cases the writer was a visionary and the ideas are good like 1984 but the books were written in a boring way and so it couldn't catch my attention for too long. Others are well written but the story itself don't touch me. And in the particular case of Lolita, i saw the movie first and it was faithful to the book. I don't like the story ( a pedophile story that girls romanticize) so i saw no point in keeping reading it if I know how it ends. So, regardless of what a intelectual should be or do, we should try everything yes (for some this books are everything, and i respect that, it depends if it says something to us or not) but i will not punishing myself by finish a book that says nothing to me just to be called smart and well read.
