As far as I can tell, GarbAugust is a youtube thing about making reading fun. You don't necessarily have to read trash, just things that are fun to read. I'm using it as an excuse to get to some of the romance novels I've had lying around.
As soon as I'm done this damn library book, I'll dive in. However, since this is supposed to be fun, I will be tossing books aside on a whim. I have plenty of trashy books on my e-book app to keep me going.
