The fairy tales, short stories, poems, and books that inspired these classic animated Disney movies. The books listed for Pocahontas and Mulan are not necessarily the ones used for the movies, but included as a story reference. Other movies based on true events or legends and myths (Johnny Appleseed, Pecos Bill, and Hercules) were not included as there are no particular books or authors for the stories. This list only covers the cartoon movies up to 2015 and does not include stand alone shorts or sequels.
