This list comes from the 1962 book "How to Prepare for College" by Abraham Lass. These books of fiction, history, drama, biography, poetry, philosophy and science were to be read during the freshman year of high school. The list is 50 years old so dated, but it's helpful to see what books marked a well-read person when Kennedy was president.
