Canadian Favourites

According to Canada's most famous author, Margaret Atwood, "The central symbol for Canada - and this is based on numerous instances of its occurrence in both English and French Canadian literature - is undoubtably survival, la survivance." I am not sure how well all of these books fit that theme, but they are my top picks by Canadian authors. Why is A Handmaid's Tale (or other Atwood books for that matter) not on this list? For some reason I haven't read it yet… something I plan to correct in 2023.
