Classic Motown Artists

What can anyone say about the energy and sound that came from the Motown Record Corporation? Many famous performers got their start with this small independent record company. During the 1960's Motown produced a string of first class artists and records (soul with an infusion of "pop" sensibilities) and this continued into the 1970's.
