Comics of the 1960s - Page 2

The 1960's was an interesting time for comics, both in the USA and abroad. The Comics Code was firmly in effect, limiting what types of material could be published: some publishers responded with more of the same schlock the late 1950s had been saturated with, while others sought out new material for a young audience. In this era of censorship, the underground comics movement really started taking off as well. Overseas, the Franco-Belgian comic style had continued to expand, creating many of its most enduring characters in this decade. In Italy, the gialo school of erotic horror began to make waves late in the decade, and the Argentine school made many groundbreaking works as well.
Needless to say, many, many good and memorable stories were being made.
