These are books dealing with religious guilt & traume, spiritual psychosis, rebellion against the institution of the church, the suppression of knowledge and the the abuse of power & authority.
Proceed with caution if you want to read some of these books.
The setting for most of these is within monasteries, covenants or the vatican itself, but also a few other aspects.
I am not religious I just find these themes compelling and it is my way of dealing with having finished The Name of the Rose.
