Fantasy, like any genre, has existed for a long, long time, and thank goodness for that, because our human imaginations need it! But, also like any other genre in the history of book publishing, fantasy hasn't been the best at including diversity in all its multifaceted forms.
Lucky for us, that trend is finally starting to change, and with the loving and supportive community that's made YA books one of the best and most inclusive around, we're seeing more and more diverse fantasy stories told by people who deserve to see themselves represented."
