Just as the title states - some of my favorite films by some of my favorite filmmakers. I should emphasize that "favorite " does not necessarily mean "best". James Cameron, for example, is NOT represented by "Titanic" or the "Avatar" franchise; while these are widely considered to be his best, I personally couldn't stand them. Some filmmakers, like Griffith, Eisenstein, Chaplin, Capra, or Kurosawa don't appear because, while I admire them, I don't go out of my way to watch their work. I limited myself to four films per director; otherwise, this list would be about Ford, Kubrick, Hitchcock and Bergman alone: I stopped at 50 filmmakers because I thought 200 movies was more than enough.
