Favourite Historical Fiction Reads

I love historical fiction - but this list is a little shorter than you'd expect: I don't class books that were written in the time they were set as historical fiction no matter how much time has passed since then, to me those books (you might be thinking of right now) will always be classic literature. For me, historical fiction is an adventure shared by both author and reader taking them back in time.
