Barbara Joan "Barbra" Streisand (/ˈstraɪsænd/; born 4/24/1942) is a US singer, actress & filmmaker with a 6 decade career and is among the few ever awarded an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony (EGOT). Streisand began in nightclubs in the early 1960s. After appearances on TV shows, she released her debut album which won the Grammy for Album of the Year. She's topped the US chart with 11 albums & 5 #1 singles. Streisand ventured into film by the end of the '60s. She starred in Funny Girl (1968), for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress. More fame came with Hello, Dolly! (1969), What's Up, Doc? (1972) and The Way We Were (1973). She won a 2nd Oscar for writing the theme for A Star Is Born (1976), the first woman honored as a composer. With Yentl (1983) she became the first woman to write, produce, direct & star in a major film. It won an Oscar for Best Score.
