Morgan Freeman (born 6/1/1937) is an American actor, director & narrator. Noted for his deep voice and varied roles. During a >5 decades career, he has received an Oscar, a SAG Award & a Golden Globe. Freeman studied theatre in LA & appeared in stage productions early on. He rose to fame in the '70s in the children's series The Electric Company. His breakout role was in Street Smart (1987), which earned him an Oscar nom for Best Supporting Actor. Further stardom came w/Glory, Lean on Me & Driving Miss Daisy (all 1989), the latter giving him his first Oscar nom for Best Actor. Other hits: The Shawshank Redemption (another Oscar nom), Se7en, Amistad, Million Dollar Baby (an Oscar win), The Dark Knight trilogy.
