Flickchart's Top 250 Movies of the 1910s (2025 Update) - Page 6

By 1910, motion pictures were in their third full decade of existence, with runtimes growing longer and plots becoming more advanced. Every film was silent, and only a handful of them were in color, using a painstaking process of hand-painting each individual shot. A small number of film auteurs, both in front of and behind the camera, emerged in this decade as well. Some of the names included on this list are: Charlie Chaplin, the legendary comedian and first bona fide silver screen superstar; Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle, an early film comedy pioneer who mentored Buster Keaton; D.W. Griffith, Hollywood's first "blockbuster" director; Cecil B Demille; Alice Guy, considered cinema's first female director; Mack Sennett, a producer and comedy director who discovered Chaplin; and Mary Pickford, Hollywood's first superstar actress.
