Four-Star Movies: the 101 Greatest Films of All Time (2003 Book by Kinn & Piazza)

"Four-Star Movies: The 101 Greatest Films of All Time" is a 2003 very large coffee table book. It was written by Gail Kinn and Jim Piazza. The inside graphic design and page layout is very attractive. It is a fun book to browse. The book cover is a bore. Many reviews of the book mention typos and more factual errors than one would expect in a professionally published product. The list has many of the standard picks and a few welcome additions to such lists ( i.e. "Diner," "The Conformist," & " Atlantic City"). However, the picks of Kinn and Piazza leave much to be desired overall. They made a decision to skip silent films. Pre-1950 films in general are sparse. Also, they completely ignored important canonical directors such as Antonioni, Godard, Tarkovsky, and Kieslowski. This list has 102 films instead of 101 because the authors count the first two Godfather films as one pick, instead of two.
