This is part of a series of lists I am publishing to provide a concise and engaging overview of different cultures/countries. I want to make clear that the purpose of this list is NOT to list the 50 best places or experiences in France. It would be impossible for me to list all of the places I love and would love to visit in the future. Rather, it is to provide what I consider a good overview, summary or cross-section of the country. For these lists, I have a framework that I am working within which is as follows:
1) the locations and attractions should represent both historical sites and modern developments;
2) as many diverse aspects, locations and attractions of a culture/country should be included as possible; and
3) where possible, a few 'off the beaten track' locations and/or attractions should be included.
I hope people enjoy these places and experiences as much as I did.
