Good Reading Guide to World Fiction:Part 2-Oceania, Asia & Africa - Page 2

More cool reads from Bloomsbury's "Good Reading to World Fiction" edited by Vincent Cassar & Nik Kalinowski(2007). Many books I know better as films like "Beasts of No Nation", "Raise the Red Lantern", "The Year of Living Dangrously" & "The Hunter" that starred Willem Dafoe. Some authors are quite famous(& Nobel Prize winners), but many deserve to be better known. Many books or writers are from Heineman's "African Writers Series". I didn't put the African books in the order as published, thought having Egypt & North Africa follow the Middle Eastern writers was better.I also added Turkey, even though it was listed in the European section. Oceania refers to Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, etc.-Hawaii though is listed with the U.S. One author that should have been included is Saudi writer Abdelrahman Munif, especially his "Cities of Salt". Some of the Asian books had been banned in their country of origin. "Distant View of a Minaret" should follow "Cairo Trilogy".
