Horror Films 101 (Version 1.0)

For this list I'm going for an almost academic horror primer. The goal is to cover the genre from its beginnings to modern day, touching on important directors, actors, artistic movements, and mediums. I only included films I've seen so of course there's going to be some biases and blindspots (I still haven't seen Tod Browning's Dracula for example), but I tried to be as objective as possible, which unfortunately meant leaving out some all-time favorites and including some films that I legitimately can't stand to watch again. It's heavily USAmerican so I apologize for that as well.
I'd be interested to hear what I may have omitted that you think should be included! I'm hoping to refine this list so comments are greatly appreciated!
