What is a cult movie? That depends on who you ask. There are many definitions that are in direct conflict with one another. Everyone agrees that it is a movie that has gained a following. Usually it doesn't do well at the box office and only finds its audience later. Many won't accept a film that did well on it's first release eligible for cult status. Even though Star Wars has a massive cult following I felt weird about including it on here despite the fact that I did put Back to the Future on this list. Go figure. Often cult movies are explotational, defy society's norms and break taboos. I'd say most are controversial. Or they inspire nostalgia in certain cases. At any rate, here are my favorite cult movies. If you have seen at least 100 of them, consider yourself cool!
