Karen Black (1939 - 2013) was one of the leading actresses of the so-called "New Hollywood" era, which largely coincided with her 1970's career peak. She received an Oscar nomination for her breakout role in 1970's "Five Easy Pieces." She was also a two time Golden Globe Winner. After her time in large or important productions largely ceased, Ms. Black continued to work in an impressive number of small independent films and an astounding amount of direct to video slop.
