All the works in this challenge received RAVE reviews at Literary Hub (rankings are based on the aggregate of at least a few reviews, often dozens of them, by professional critics). Interestingly some well-known works, i.e. The Testaments, Normal People, The Dutch House and Killing Commendatore only achieved a POSITIVE rating in this analysis.
Given that these books were published or re-published in English in the last few years (as at January, 2020), this challenge is meant primarily as suggestions for future reading. Usefully the source has summaries of the multiple reviews for each work and links to the full versions.
