List of Shame

These are books I decided to read primarily to boost my List Challenges scores, although often also out of curiosity. Obviously they needed to be popular books to be useful; relatively short and/or with large font sizes was also helpful.
How much I actually enjoyed them varied widely. Pleasant surprises were The Crucible, The Bell Jar, The Scarlet Letter and Are You My Mother?
Books I disliked were The Alchemist, A Child Called 'It', The Giver and The Witches. I didn't feel strongly either way about the rest (?punishment for my suspect selection criteria).
