Markd9528's Literary Gems Hiding in Plain Sight

It's an obvious statement but you don't know how much a book moves you or makes you laugh or disturbs you until you actually read it. These are all relatively well known books that were 'undiscovered' gems for me personally, whose greatness was gradually revealed to me as I turned the pages.
These are a small subset of the books I have read or reread in the past 5 years, almost all of the forty having been read during the COVID saga.
Update: I created this challenge particularly with 'The Pilgrim Hawk' in mind and it's the only book on the list that no one else has read!
