Matthew Sheldon's Top 300 Films of All Time - Page 6

I love all kinds of cinema. Which is why I was disappointed when attending film school and meeting fellow film buffs. Most of them would list off their all-time favorite films and nearly every one of the movie titles mentioned were always post 1970's. They even resisted a film if they knew they had to read the subtitles! People seem to be less interested about the black and white classics of the past or films made by other countries and more interested with the popular rise of comic book movies, endless movie franchises and the next sequel or remake. Attention spans have also greatly diminished. I was saddened to learn people are able to reference scenes of classic movies, not by watching the films, but simply by being brought up on endless Family Guy episodes or 30 second sound bites with ironic quick-witted puns. Today, if the normal movie watcher can't be patient enough to wait around for the arrival of Harry Lime in The Third Man, what will moviegoers be like twenty years from now?
