This may not appear to be a very ambitious list of books read in 2023, but for me it was an accomplishment since I was caregiving my husband around-the-clock, until he died at the end of August. While books can provide both escape and relaxation, sometimes when we are under tremendous stress or grief, it is too difficult to focus. But I am grateful to authors such as Bill Bryson, Ann Patchett, Louise Penny, Raymond Chandler, Anthony Bourdain, Anita Shreve, and so many others for taking me to so many places without having to leave my husband's side. Only one book is missing from the list (because it would not copy), and that is "Shakespeare & Me: Adventures with the Bard" by Herman Golob.
