Sometimes metal artists want to show off their softer side and produce albums that don't fit in with their usual style. We're not talking heavy metal bands making something more hard rock orientated, but much more extreme differences. Here we select some albums where metal artists did something a bit different. Note that some of these releases may be because of a continual change in style and the list also includes some releases by side-projects of notable metal musicians (for example Neptune Towers), even if those projects never played metal themselves.
