Movies and Books About Them

I've listed some well known movies paired with some interesting, substantial books about them. The books are NOT the books the films were based on but are instead serious histories and critical studies of each film. I've tried to avoid coffee table books ( unless they have a substantial critical text to them): I've likewise omitted studies of filmmakers and/or groups and types of movies, except when the book is about a specific cycle of films, e.g. the Planet of the Apes series.. I've also tried to make sure that the books listed are still readily available in case someone is intrigued by them and wants to check them out.
